
NOC-K embraces bubble training for athletes ahead of Commonwealth Games

The athletes received training kits on Monday
In an effort aimed at sealing all the loopholes for the spread of coronavirus, the National Olympic Committee of Kenya intends to pool the athletes who are set to represent the country in the Commonwealth Games in a bubble training camp at Kasarani Stadium.
NOC-K first Vice President Shadrack Maluki made the announcement on Monday after presenting training kit to the athletes who are already in camp for the Games.

Maluki while encouraging the athletes to continue working hard on their training so as to realize their targets lauded the Government for the immense support extended to athletes to ensure the camp runs smoothly.
"We are very happy to present the training kit today as provided by our sponsors Nike. It's a good move because now are arming them with tools of the trade to help them prepare adequately for the Games and bring home medals,” he said.
General Team Manager Evans Bosire reiterated that they are taking all the necessary precautions to ensure COVID-19 protocols were adhered to in order to avoid putting athletes at risk of infection as they prepare for the Games.

"We have athletes training in various camps in the country and we have ensured we do tests for all of them every week. These are some of the measures we have put in place to safeguard the well-being of our most esteemed athletes” he said.
Meanwhile, Triathlete Joseph Okal and 3x3 Basketballer Lavender Opondo said they are motivated to work harder as they look to hoist the Kenyan Flag in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
